Roger Belland
Founded in 1839 and now run by Roger Belland and his daughter Julie, Domaine Roger Belland is a family-owned estate spanning 23 to 24 hectares, located in Santenay at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard stretches across prestigious terroirs in Santenay, Maranges, Chassagne-Montrachet (including the monopole Clos Pitois), Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, and Pommard. The domaine practices sustainable viticulture, including cover cropping, manual vineyard work, hand harvesting, and double sorting to reduce the use of phytosanitary products. Vinification follows traditional methods, with low-temperature fermentation and oak barrel ageing tailored to each cuvée.
The domaine offers a wide range of red and white wines, from regional Bourgogne appellations to Premier Crus (such as Beauregard, Gravières, and Commes in Santenay) and even Grand Crus (Chassagne-Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet). Among the flagship wines are the Santenay Premier Cru Beauregard, noted for its finesse and spiciness, and the Premier Cru Les Gravières, praised for its elegant structure and refined fruit. With an annual production of around 90,000 bottles, the wines of Domaine Roger Belland are regularly recommended by critics and celebrated for their consistency, balance, and precise expression of terroir.
