Denis Mortet

The Domaine Denis Mortet in Gevrey-Chambertin was established in 1956 by Charles Mortet. His son Denis took over in 1992, followed by his daughter Laurence and her children Arnaud and Clémence in 2006. The estate covers about 16 hectares across Gevrey-Chambertin Village and Premiers Crus (Perrières, Lavaux-Saint-Jacques…), Chambolle-Musigny, and Grands Crus (Mazoyères, Charmes).

All vineyards are estate-owned and farmed sustainably: plowing, grass cover, and minimal chemical input. Harvesting is manual and sometimes staggered for optimal ripeness. Vinification is gentle and respectful, with low extraction and 15 to 18 months of barrel aging (20–30% new oak).

The wines develop intense aromas of red fruit and spices, with solid structure, elegant tannins, and impressive length. The presence of millerandé grapes (varying berry sizes) adds concentration and complexity. Domaine Mortet is an institution, a symbol of consistency, expertise, and deep terroir understanding.
