Domaine de Montmain
Domaine de Montmain, based in Villars-Fontaine, is a family-run estate of nearly 10 hectares located on the stony slopes of southern Côte de Nuits. Founded in the 1930s, it is now managed by the fourth generation. The vines are cultivated using sustainable practices, with plowing and manual harvesting, and traditional vinification focused on pure terroir expression.
The estate offers a range of appellations from Bourgogne Rouge to nearby Nuits-Saint-Georges village and premier cru wines. The wines are known for their balance between ripe fruit and velvety tannins, with a fresh, lively finish. A consistent focus on quality is evident, with oak aging adapted to each cuvée, a restrained use of new wood, and minimal filtration at bottling. Domaine de Montmain stands out for its quiet authenticity and the reliable character of its wines, true to the spirit of the Côte de Nuits.
