Michelot
The Domaine Michelot is a family-run vineyard located in Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, it is now managed by Nicolas Mestre, representing the seventh generation of winemakers in the family, alongside his father Jean-François Mestre. The estate covers approximately 19 hectares, mainly planted with Chardonnay, with some parcels of Pinot Noir. It owns vineyards in the appellations of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Santenay, and Bourgogne Côte d’Or. The soils vary between clay-limestone, marl, and limestone, offering a diversity of terroirs conducive to the expression of balanced and typical wines.
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, favoring manual work and limiting phytosanitary treatments. Although not officially certified, it strives to respect the environment and promote soil health. Among the estate’s emblematic cuvées is the Meursault "Sous la Velle," made from vines planted in the 1930s, offering great consistency and a typical expression of the terroir. The Meursault "Les Grands Charrons" is distinguished by its minerality, while the Meursault "Grès," aged in sandstone eggs, presents remarkable finesse.
The wines of Domaine Michelot are renowned for their finesse, balance, and ability to reflect the unique characteristics of their respective terroirs.
