Comte Armand
This Burgundian gem holds an extraordinary historical monopoly: the Clos des Épeneaux (5.2 ha), the only one in Pommard. Owned by the Armand family since 1828, today Olivier Armand and Paul Zinetti continue a biodynamic vision (plowing, compost, staggered manual harvests). Grass-covered meadows between the rows promote biodiversity. Vinifications are long, macerations gentle, and aging extended in barrels (20–30% new) for 18 months or more.
This clos develops a powerful, refined, distinctive, and complex style of Pommard, without heaviness. The estate comprises around 9–10 hectares in total, with parcels in Volnay and Meursault, including white wine production (Aligoté sur lies, Meursault); the typicity and precision are striking.
The site features a contemporary cellar designed for wine and tasting. It is a pilgrimage site for enthusiasts, Burgundian officials, and oenologists alike – demanding yet accessible, always true to the spirit of the terroir.
