The Petit Chablis appellation is a wine designation located in the Chablis wine region, in northern Burgundy. Created in 1944, it represents the entry level of Chablis wines, while retaining the elegance typical of wines made from the Chardonnay grape.
The Petit Chablis vines are planted on younger soils, often on higher slopes, which results in wines that are lively and very fresh.
Wines from this appellation are characterized by their pale color, aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers, and sometimes green apple. On the palate, they offer a nice mineral tension, well-balanced acidity, and a clean finish. When young, they are perfect as an aperitif or to pair with seafood and shellfish.
Petit Chablis is an excellent introduction to discovering the purity and typicity of the great Chablis wines. An accessible, refreshing, and authentically Burgundian wine.
