The Domaine Piguet-Girardin is a family-run winery located in Auxey-Duresses, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Founded in 1985 by Anne-Marie Girardin and Dominique Piguet, descendants of centuries-old winegrowing families, the estate has gradually expanded to cover about 12 hectares spread over 18 prestigious appellations, ranging from Pommard to Maranges, including Meursault, Auxey-Duresses, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Santenay.
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, minimizing the use of phytosanitary treatments and favoring environmentally friendly practices. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, with a double sorting process carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar using a vibrating sorting table. The grape varieties grown include Pinot Noir for reds and Chardonnay for whites, with aging in oak barrels for both red and white wines, allowing the full expression of the Burgundy terroirs’ character.
Among the estate’s flagship cuvées is the Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru "Les Grands Champs," a Pinot Noir from a unique plot on a stony marl-limestone soil, offering a cherry color, aromas of small black fruits, and a supple, fine, and tannic palate with a finish of blackberry notes. This wine is aged 100% in oak barrels for 12 months, with 20% new oak.
The wines from Domaine Piguet-Girardin are known for their finesse, balance, and ability to reflect the unique characteristics of their respective terroirs. Since late 2016, Damien, their son, has been gradually taking over the estate, bringing a breath of modernity while preserving the family’s authenticity and know-how.
