A legendary name in the Côte de Beaune, the Château de Pommard is the largest private enclosed vineyard in Burgundy with 20 hectares surrounded by walls (the mythical Clos Marey-Monge).
Founded in 1726, strongly influenced by classical styles and a public spirit, it includes gardens, museums, two residences, and a unique wine tourism journey. Since 2014, under American owner Michael Baum, the estate has begun a biodynamic conversion paired with an ambitious architectural vision: a transparent cellar in a historic building, educational emphasis, and an immersive customer experience. The vineyard is divided into seven plots: Valentin, Chanlins, Noizons, Peñaud, Jouvenceaux, Dame-Noire, Reversées – each reflecting a different expression of the Pommard terroir. The Clos cuvées, made from the oldest vines, are aged in 30% new oak, offering concentration, breadth, tannic finesse, and aging potential.
The range spans from Bourgogne Village to Pommard Village, Premier Crus, and select clos, also including wines "outside the club" like Bâtard-Montrachet. Visits, wine nomadism, carriage tours, accommodations, and restaurants contribute to making Pommard a lively, gourmet, and ambitious place, pioneering experiential wine tourism in Burgundy.
