The Burgundy red wine presented originates from the Beaune 1er cru "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" appellation. Produced by Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils from the 2016 vintage, this 100% Pinot Noir wine comes from grapes that underwent traditional vinification in vats. Aging took place in French oak barrels for 16 to 20 months, with a proportion of new barrels ranging between 30 and 40%, the remainder consisting of barrels that had already received several vintages. The 2016 vintage was marked by a mild winter, devastating spring frosts resulting in low yields, followed by generous sunshine allowing the surviving grapes to reach exceptional maturity.

WINE TASTING NOTES

  • Color: Intense and brilliant red color, a deep hue testifying to a remarkable concentration.
  • Nose: Rich and of a remarkable aromatic complexity. It combines notes of ripe red fruits (cherries, redcurrants, black cherry) and black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), accompanied by aromas of iron, tobacco, spices, figs, and subtle chocolate touches. A mineral dimension, notes of humus, undergrowth, and floral tones of peony complete this profile. The RVF notes that it shows itself strict, with the woodiness tarnishing the fruit.
  • On the palate: Solid in its structure with a tannin base, while finding a beautiful balance, very juicy and vibrant. The attack is characterized by an immediate smoothness and fluidity, with a fine tannic structure integrated into a velvety and silky texture. The concentration on the palate impresses with its richness and density. A tangy freshness brings vivacity and precision, leading to a substantial, long, memorable, and persistent finish of tangy red fruits, very fine tannins, and slightly bitter and chocolate notes.
