The Morgon appellation is located on the hillsides of the commune of Villié Morgon in northern Beaujolais. The climate is continental and the small plots from which this wine comes enjoy a south-easterly exposure overlooking the Saône valley. At an altitude of 200-300m, these vines, which are over 50 years old, thrive on subsoil of “rotten rock” rich in iron oxide and schist.
Nose: Aromas of ripe stone fruits, particularly cherry, with hints of nutmeg, star anise, and coffee.
Palate: Complex and balanced with velvety tannins on the finish.
