Clos Vougeot is an iconic red Grand Cru located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Despite the diversity of producers, its wines share key characteristics: an intense robe ranging from raspberry to garnet, and a refined bouquet combining rose, violet, blackberry, raspberry, licorice, and truffle. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fleshy, and elegant — a wine built for long aging (10 to 30 years or more), offering both richness and suppleness with a noble structure.
It pairs beautifully with tender, marbled meats such as ribeye steak, braised lamb, game birds, or soft washed-rind cheeses like Époisses or Cîteaux.
Serving temperature: 12–13 °C when young, 15–16 °C at maturity.
Enclosed by stone walls for over five centuries, this 50-hectare vineyard — founded by Cistercian monks in the 12th century — remains a true icon of the Burgundian landscape. It has held Grand Cru status since 1937.
