Vézelay
Vézelay is a dry white wine made exclusively from Chardonnay. Its pale gold color with green highlights precedes a fresh, expressive nose featuring aromas of white flowers (acacia, hawthorn), citrus (lemon, grapefruit), and sometimes pear or peach. On the palate, it combines suppleness and liveliness, carried by a distinctive limestone minerality and a saline finish with hints of mint or licorice.
Its freshness makes it an excellent match for aperitifs, grilled or baked fish, shellfish, and delicate charcuterie. More structured, barrel-aged cuvées pair wonderfully with creamy poultry dishes or mushrooms. It also complements goat cheeses, Comté, and bloomy-rind cheeses like Brillat-Savarin.
Located around the village of Vézelay in the Yonne, the vineyard experienced a revival in the 1970s after a long dormancy. Officially granted AOC Village status in 2017, it stretches across south and southeast-facing slopes between 190 and 330 meters in altitude, on Jurassic limestone soils. This terroir imparts Vézelay with its vibrancy, precision, and natural elegance.
