Sancerre
The Sancerre appellation is located in the Centre-Val de Loire, on hills overlooking the Loire River, covering an area of around 2,800 hectares.
It is mainly known for its white wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, which account for over 80% of its production. The diverse soils, composed of limestone pebbles (caillottes), clay-limestone (terres blanches), and flint (silex), give the wines a rich aromatic palette and beautiful minerality. Sancerre whites are distinguished by aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers, and flint, with a lively and taut palate.
The appellation also produces reds and rosés from Pinot Noir, offering light, fruity, and elegant wines. The reds are characterized by notes of cherry and raspberry, with a fine structure.
Sancerre benefits from a temperate climate with continental influences, favoring slow and balanced ripening.
These wines pair perfectly with seafood, fish, goat cheeses such as Crottin de Chavignol, and summer salads. Sancerre embodies the elegance of the Loire, offering wines that are precise, pure, and refined.
