Mercurey
In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey predominantly produces deep red wines with a ruby hue and an expressive nose of raspberry, cherry, and strawberry. With age, they gain complexity, developing notes of undergrowth, tobacco, and cocoa. On the palate, these are full-bodied, fruity wines with tannins that can be firm in their youth but mellow beautifully over time. The whites, golden with green highlights, offer aromas of white flowers, hazelnut, almond, and spices, supported by a savory mineral structure.
The red pairs perfectly with beef, lamb, roasted pork, poultry in sauce, or exotic dishes, as well as with soft or aged cheeses. The white shines alongside fish, seafood, Asian cuisine, or simply as an aperitif.
Serving temperature: 14–16 °C for reds, 11–13 °C for whites.
Situated between 230 and 320 meters in altitude, Mercurey's vineyards thrive on marl-limestone, clay, or crystalline soils, sheltered from the wind. Granted AOC status in 1937, this dynamic appellation embodies the elegance and generosity of the Côte Chalonnaise wines.
