Givry
Givry, a distinguished cru from the Côte Chalonnaise, is renowned primarily for its exquisite Pinot Noir reds. These wines captivate with a brilliant deep ruby hue and an inviting bouquet of strawberry, violet, blackberry, and subtle spices. When young, they offer firm tannins, which gracefully soften to reveal a roundness and finesse after a few years of aging.
The whites, crafted from Chardonnay, display a pale golden color with enticing aromas of honey, lemon, and linden blossom, leading to a vibrant yet silky palate with a lingering finish.
The reds pair beautifully with fine charcuterie, roasted or slow-cooked meats, and mild cheeses, while the whites complement sauced fish dishes, white meats, as well as Saint-Nectaire or Cantal cheeses.
Serving temperatures: reds at approximately 15 °C (59 °F), whites between 11 and 13 °C (52–55 °F).
Produced around Givry, Dracy-le-Fort, and Jambles, on limestone and clay-limestone soils with south and southeast exposures, between 240 and 280 meters above sea level.
Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée since 1946.
