Gevrey-Chambertin marks the gateway to the great red wines of the Côte de Nuits. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, this wine features a bright ruby color that deepens with age. Its bouquet is intense, revealing aromas of strawberry, blackberry, violet, and rose. With maturity, it evolves toward deeper notes of leather, licorice, fur, and undergrowth. On the palate, it is powerful and structured, with a velvety texture and fine grain, capable of aging beautifully while remaining enjoyable in its youth.
Solid and full of character, Gevrey-Chambertin pairs naturally with red meats, game, lamb in brown sauce, and even certain fish like pike-perch or tuna in red wine. Strong cheeses, particularly Époisses or Cîteaux, are also excellent companions.
Ideal serving temperature: 15 to 16 °C.
Backed by the Combe de Lavaux, the vineyard stretches between 280 and 380 meters in altitude, across limestone soils, clay-marl, and red silt. The birthplace of prestigious Grands Crus like Charmes-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin or even the well-known Clos de Bèze, Gevrey-Chambertin proudly carries its ancient heritage and its reputation as a great wine for ageing.
