Renowned since the 19th century, Pommard embodies the power of Burgundy reds while revealing an unexpected finesse. Its dark ruby hue with purple highlights evokes, according to Victor Hugo, “the battle between day and night.” The nose blends blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, and plum, evolving over time to notes of leather, chocolate, and pepper. On the palate, the structure is firm yet softens with age, offering both fruitiness and depth.
Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, this wine benefits from ageing in the cellar to fully express its character. It pairs well with game, roasted or sauced red meats, and strong cheeses such as Époisses or Comté.
Serving temperature: 14 to 16 °C.
Located between Beaune and Volnay, on well-exposed slopes, Pommarddraws its strength from iron-rich clay-limestone soils. Granted AOC status in 1936, it remains a benchmark among the great red wines of the Côte de Beaune.
